Overview
Adipotide (FTPP, fat-targeting proapoptotic peptide) is a synthetic chimeric peptide designed to selectively ablate the blood supply feeding white adipose tissue. Preclinical studies in non-human primates demonstrated rapid, significant weight loss through targeted apoptosis of adipose vasculature.
Mechanism of Action
Adipotide consists of two functional domains: a fat-homing sequence (CKGGRAKDC) that binds prohibitin on the luminal surface of adipose blood vessels, and a proapoptotic D(KLAKLAK)โ sequence that disrupts mitochondrial membranes, selectively inducing apoptosis in vasculature supplying white fat depots.
