Overview
MGF (Mechano Growth Factor, or IGF-1Ec) is an alternatively spliced isoform of IGF-1 produced locally in muscle and other tissues in response to mechanical loading or damage. It acts as a potent activator of resident muscle satellite cells, initiating the muscle repair and hypertrophy process.
Mechanism of Action
MGF contains a unique 49-nucleotide insert-derived E-domain that is distinct from the systemic IGF-1Ea isoform. This E-peptide domain activates muscle satellite (stem) cells and promotes their proliferation before they fuse with muscle fibers. The IGF-1 receptor-binding domain simultaneously drives protein synthesis through the PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway.
