Overview
KPV is a synthetic C-terminal tripeptide of α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH) composed of lysine, proline, and valine. It exhibits potent anti-inflammatory properties and has been studied for gut inflammation (inflammatory bowel disease), wound healing, and skin conditions.
Mechanism of Action
KPV inhibits NF-κB nuclear translocation and downstream production of pro-inflammatory cytokines including IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α. It activates melanocortin receptors (particularly MC1R) in immune cells and epithelial tissue, promoting resolution of inflammation and tissue repair.
