IGF-1 DES

Overview

IGF-1 DES is a truncated insulin-like growth factor-1 analog lacking the first three N-terminal amino acids. It is used in growth-factor research, especially in studies comparing IGF-1 receptor activity and IGF-binding protein interactions.

Mechanism of Action

IGF-1 DES activates the IGF-1 receptor while showing reduced binding to several IGF-binding proteins compared with full-length IGF-1. This altered binding profile is studied for effects on receptor availability and downstream PI3K-AKT and MAPK signaling.
